GMO’s–Genetically Modified Organisms–Frankenfood

Posted by justanotherstayathomemom on June 22, 2009

Well, a good friend of mine sent me an email today about GMO’s and how they are the bane of society.

I tend to agree with her.

I understand the basic premise of altering our food’s genetic make-up for the better-ment of society, mainly by food becoming shelf stable for a long time…a really long time.  And because it looks fantastic…you don’t realize that tomato you are eating on your hamburger is acutally three weeks old.  It’s an atrocity.  How nutritious do you think that tomato is?  How long do you think it took to get to your local Micky D’s?

We really have lost all touch with reality when it comes to our food.

GMO’s can currently be found in 95% of our corn supply, in our canola, soy and cotton.  All of these are marketed by a company called Monsanto, a multi-billion dollar pesticide and seed manufacturer.

They own patents on seeds.  If they find their seed growing in your field because it blew in from another farmer’s field, or was dropped there by a passing bird, they will sue you.  Nice folks.

Now, the powers that be, are getting ready to add wheat to the GMO list.  And then, whether you want to or not, you will be eating wheat created in a lab.  Kewl.  Really (rolls eyes).

Here is a really neat movie about our food system and how perverted it is courtesy of Monsanto and greed.  It’s long, about an hour and a half, but it’s eye opening.

(one of these days i will figure out how to imbed one of these video thingies)

I have watched about half of it, and it’s very disturbing, to say the least.

I don’t know what else to say about it.  We have to change our diet, I have to change our diet.  I’m working on it.

hmmm…i will be doing more research on this topic…it’s very interesting to me

It’s a question of ethics, really…

Posted by justanotherstayathomemom on June 18, 2009

Let’s say you manage a store.  A grocery store.  You have many employees, and do a pretty good job of running it, so far.  One of your employees, Jerry, whom was hired by the former manager, tells you that one of your other employees, John, has stolen some apples.

Well, you thank him, of course, and then, two days later, you fire Jerry.

Without warning.

Without cause.

Jerry doesn’t understand because when he was hired, the store’s policy on firing is that you are given a reason for being fired and you are given a week to find a new job.  (It’s a pretty nice policy, one that you, when you were the meat manager, and a few other managers wrote up and asked to be put into the store’s handbook.)

What Jerry didn’t know is that you and John are best friends, and John actually went to bat for you when you applied for the “General Manager” position at the store.  He is a great friend and you are NOT going to let a little theft get in the way of that.

Now, of course YOU wouldn’t fire Jerry, right?  I mean, he did the RIGHT thing by telling you one of your employees was stealing, RIGHT?

That was the correct and ethical thing to do, report someone stealing, letting the boss know what was going on under his nose because he is busy doing lots of other grocery related things.

Well….what if I told you our “wonderful” President Obama has done this very thing…just a few days ago.

The MSM (main stream media) isn’t covering it…they are too busy covering Hillary breaking her elbow and who’s “the world’s hottest bachelor.”

AmeriCorps attorney general Gerald Walpin was fired, without reason, for alerting President Obama that the mayor of Sacramento, Kevin Johnson, had basically stolen over $800,000 dollars of taxpayer money for car washes, among other things.

What Walpin didn’t know is that Obama and Johnson are friends, and Johnson is a huge supporter of Obama.

It must be nice to have friends in high places.  You can steal, lie and cheat, and still not loose your job.

Now, why should this matter to you and me?  Obama co-sponsored a bill, while he was still a Senator, that required Congress be given a 30 day notice AND justifiable reasons why an inspector general was to be fired.  Obama did none of these things.  Someone pissed him off, he fired him without notice AND after a few days came up with a the lame excuse that Walpin was “disheveled” at a meeting back in May.

Whatever.

So, this means, Obama can and will do whatever he wants, despite the rules he himself passed into law.  Apparently the law doesn’t matter anymore.  This means very few people, if any, will dare to go up against our illustrious President, for fear of losing their job.

Ridiculous.

Utter Ridiculousness.
